The Good Neighbor Program partnered with the New York Yankees Foundation to sponsor the Good Neighbor Youth Basketball Camp. The camp sessions were held at Fordham University, Bronx, N.Y. It ran for 5 days from 8 am to 4 pm.

The camp was free of charge to participating students ages 9 – 16 pm. During camp sessions, breakfast & lunch was provided daily by Good Neighbor participating sponsors, including General Mills, Post, Kellogg’s, Skim Plus, Motts, Unilever and Smucker’s. Campers received gifts including t-shirts, hats and gift certificates from Modells Sporting Goods. They were also invited, along with their parents, to attend a New York Yankees game this season. The Izzo family of Modern Foods made food and services donations to the program.

The emphasis of the camp was to encourage teamwork, fitness and well being. The camp provided daily basketball workout sessions that was staffed by local area college and high school coaches. For guidance and motivation, a guest speaker was be featured daily. St. Barnabas Hospital provided medical services with an available doctor on site every day of the program.

The camp’s main sponsor, the Good Neighbor Program, supports academic achievement, physical exercise and health and well being by sponsoring programs in the communities it serves.
